GAP May Scrap Fall ad Photos and (A favourite here at Fashist), Malgosia Bela gets an Oscar, so to speak.

Yet another major ad campaign has hit a snag. We reported previously that Tom Ford scrapped the fall 2000 Gucci ads shot by Mario Testino and had them reshot at considerable expense.

Now The Gap is reconsidering its lavish fall campaign lensed by Steven Meisel, a series of 40-person "group protest"-styled shots. Insiders say they may be used in some form at a later date or scrapped altogether. "Steven Meisel's work will be part of our fall campaign, but we're still finalizing things," Gap spokesperson Rachel DiCarlo told Fashion Buzz. "We don't really talk about marketing and advertising until it's finalized." "As of now, no one knows what's going on," says Chris at Next, booker for model Amanda Moore, who was on the shoot.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals President Ingrid Newkirk says Gap execs probably realized running the ads would have a negative effect on sales. Back in March, Newkirk, rocker Chrissie Hynde and two other PETA activists spent the night in jail after they attacked a leather clothing display at a Gap store in Rockefeller Center, claiming the cows in India and China where the leather originated were treated cruelly. "Much to everyone's surprise they listened and learned, and now we have a good relationship with The Gap," Newkirk says. "About six weeks ago they agreed to put a ban on Indian and Chinese leather." As for the ads, "It's probable they realized people link leather and protests, and the ads would remind people that we were protesting The Gap. They probably don't want to make that link in the consumer's mind, especially if the mod- els are wearing leather pants."

23-year-old Polish beauty Malgosia Bela has been picked as the face for Oscar de la Renta's new fragrance, Sol. The Next model, who is also the face of the designer's Oscar scent, just shot the ad campaign with veteran lensman Richard Avedon here in New York. Malgosia, who graces the June cover of Italian Vogue, has also appeared in ads for Valentino, Jil Sander and Versace, among others.

I listened to a couple albums last week. I like Hard Rock most of all, so they were a couple HR albums.

Heavy Metal 2000 Soundtrack
Who knows if the movie will ever come out? Better not blink or you'll miss its theatre release and will have to watch it on some movie
channel. Who am I kidding? As if it'll be anything but a straight to home video/DVD. Heavy Metal soundtrack, the original one, with
such bands as Cheap Trick, Survivor, BOC, Stevie Nicks (A Blue Light). That was a good album. True, you can't call this stuff hard
rock by any means. It was like 20 years ago it came out. But I've always like it. Could this hold up to the name?

Yes. Pretty close at least. With 8 good songs and a couple okay ones, including a revamped Billy Idol of all people. Probably can say
there should be 3 songs with real lasting listening power. If you like the hard stuff- You'll like this sucker! With bands like Q.o.t.S.A.,
Monster Magnate, B.Idol, MDFMK.
Best song: Infinity by Queens of the Stone Age (aka Kyuss)
3 1/2+ out of 5 (the '+' meansI thought it was worth to purchase and not Napster it)

And song wise... I can't believe it, but I actually like that Alive song by Edwin (and I couldn't stand whatever the name of his ex-band

last week. I finally got a MP3 of Superfriendz's 10lbs (don't ask why.. I don't know?? I just like the song. one of those mystery with
no answer). And that M:I2 song by Limp Bizkit, I like. The Metallica one sucks! Could it have been any more over produced!?

ELITE OWNS GISELE'S 'ASSETS'
The Elite agency is declaring a preliminary victory in its battle with industry rival IMG. Last September,
former Elite booker Anne Nelson defected to IMG, taking top model Gisele Bundchen with her. Elite filed

Hi! Okay this is completely un-Fashist related.
Long story short. My old man has been following a political leadership election going on up here in
Canada (well, the whole clan has, but anyways). Anyhoo, the old man got all excited when he saw
one of the would-be leader's website offer some silly contest (even switch who he wanted after this-
he thought it was friendly). And now sure enough he wants to win.

It goes by points. Easiest way to score points is to send out a Post card and have people click on
this picture - hyperlinking them to this guy's homepage. I guess, no suprise, only like 5 people
decided to "take the contest's challenge". My old man send old a bunch of these post cards and
Shazzam! Was in second place. But of course the other night this guy mentioned his website on a
debate so like a dozen more people have joined, and the old man was knocked down.

No idea what the winner gets? Probably something useless (afterall this is
politics). But the old man wants to win! So here's the favour I ask you:
