SI Swimsuit issue opinions
The web is talking about Elsa.
Okay, I don't know if Elsa Benitez has had work done (you know where).
Don't care, if really.
It certainly looks like it! All a person has to do is look at her
latest stuff, like SI, and some
past stuff, like the Pirelli Calendar (photos not hard to find over
the net).
I was more commentating on, since I do believe she has had the surgery,
that SI using her
doesn't help the stereotype on American men's magazine and what
they care about - Big Breasts!
Though I'm sure SI isn't concern on "message". And why
should it be? Honest! Not everything
has to be about activism. Things are allowed to be about just fun.
There is WAY TOO MUCH
activism in fashion/fashion model used in men's magazines, anyway
(and that's more than the
truth). Just I thought, for myself, Elsa looked just fine before
the surgery (or puberty or stylist,
or whatever excuse one wants to say. I call it denial. I doubt it's
puberty, at her age, or a
stylist's handiwork).
Years back, the web was all a buzz over Elsa. She was seen as the
next big thing.
It never happened. Not to the degree people of that time were predicting.
So for her (Elsa) and those who invested their time in following
her career, the Pirelli shoot
must of been good, and now this SI shoot and cover must be nice
for them to see (and Elsa).
But in my eyes, it wasn't Elsa but her breasts (or American PC politics)
that got her the cover.
I just think she's undeserving of it. You'd think it's like a kick
in teeth for the other models and
maybe even the photographers, and assistants.
Here's an observation I'll ask you.
Is Michelle Behennah wearing a bikini that looks exactly like
one she wore (painted on) in last year's SI? Sneaky, if so (Someone
let me know).
But seriously, and honestly. Congratulations
to all the models in this year's SI.

SI Swimsuit issue opinions
Just flipped through the SI 2001
issue. Pretty good! Better photos than the website ones.
Here are some of your comments:
(1 ) On Elsa having the cover
"I agree with you about the implants - don't like 'em myself,
but don't be too hard
on Elsa - she's really pretty, don't ya think? And she seems to
be a really nice girl, too".
(2) Reaction to SI online, by a photographer
" I think Terry Richardson should have shot them all. Robert
Erdmann's pictures for
this issue are pretty boring. None of the photographers is anywhere
near what Terry
Richardson is doing currently and that with such simple equipment.
Fernanda Tavares
is great again and Yamilia RULES! She's a god example of a good
model. You (the photographer)
just cannot shoot a bad picture of that girl. Amy Wesson is a great
model, I like her D&G ads
and her commitment to modeling, but I don't think this shoot is
her best one. I regret the
breastjob of Elsa Benitez. She was a very promising model and now
she just one of the
rest, or maybe even less".
(3) On Amy Wesson
"I've never seen Amy Wesson in any photo where I though she
was attractive.
But these photos are hot! I wouldn't call it a comeback, more of
a coming out.
(4) SI online thoughts, by a fellow site webmaster
"Good to see the Ralph Klein banner up at your site :)"
"As for the issue, I think its just plain boring. Lifeless
models with blank stares.
"Just look and see how few photos actually show the model with
a nice smile (I want
to see some *teeth* dammit!). When I think
back to the glory days of SI you had the
SI-only models. They had curves and a personality. They were the
type of model who
you'd never find in some drab ad for Yves Saint Laurent. Heidi Klum
is a SI model,
Amy Wesson is not. Most men upon seeing Amy will undoubtedly ask
what drug
she's on, and they're probably not far from the truth. I won't even
get into idea that men
buy this magazine to see half-naked models, *not* swimsuits, staircases,
church bells,
or whatever else the photographer thinks is more important (or 'artistic')
than sexy babes.
Anyway, I guess someone likes that crap!"
(4b) later, same person, after seeing the issue
"I saw the SI issue today. Some much better stuff in there
including
Kim Lemanton looking fine. This might just change my mind about
the issue"

SI Swimsuit issue opinions
Cover: Don't like. The fact a model who has
had a breast job I think it a
real slap in the face on women. Also helps stereotype USA men's
taste in
women, silicon over style or substance
Magazine overall (from judging from the online
version of it):
Not too bad. Might buy the issue? Interesting how the trend is less
"American model" and more "world-wide Vogue model".
Amy Wesson
and Fernanda have the best shoot, I thought.
Model

Bax in Playboy (photo, cover, video)
playboy.com - Kylie Bax's Playboy issue is out.
A photo, a video, her own cover, and she talks about how much she
likes having sex
|
On the
Web |
I bet
either Josie Maran or Claudia Schiffer are next in American Playboy.
Or you think Angela Lindvall and James King might to help plug their
movies and acting
careers (I don't, with those two)? But why would they? Models who
do that.. it never works.
Bijou, Everhart, it just didn't work. Even after Naomi ran around
naked in Playboy
and GQ, it didn't seem to boost her career much. And yet Arena seems
to of work for
models like Gisele, Angela (Jan 2000 suppliment), and Ana. |

(Carmen Kass might of won VH-1 and
Vogue's award for model of the year.
But Fashist! picked its comeback model of 2000 as its overall winner.
