You bet. Another time for a break. Feel free to
check out past months' updates. Something there for everyone. Mary
informs me she's giving US Elle 9/01 3 stars, not 4. She likes the
ads in it. Tells you something about the current editorials when
the ads take first billing. The Germans and angry Gisele fans are
telling me it's true about the German GQ adding fake nipples to
their Gisele Bundchen cover.
It's not that it's a suprise. Magazines have been
fooling with photos forever. Though usually it's removing nipples.
I guess adding them to Gisele is to help sales? I'm just suprise
they'd do it to a model who has the wealth, and the boyfriend, to
afford a lawsuit. Not that I'm saying she should. I'm not! But I
can't imagine her posing in GQ anymore. What next. Placing the heads
of models on the bodies of Hustler models? What next, fake interviews?
On that cue. I remember I did a interview with Tasha
Tilberg. I made the whole interview up myself. Just now!
Steve: Hi Tasha. How you enjoying
modelling?
Tasha: Like, it pays more than fishing, and
I get to be a Covergirl, yay!
Steve: You're from British Columbia, aren't
you. Who did you vote for in the recent Provincial election?
Tasha: Gordon Campbell, of course, duh! Though
I'm really excited that Stephen Harper might run for the like leadership
of the Canadian Alliance!
Steve: You don't say (and she didn't, since
this is fake interview)...
Steve: Thanks for your time. What's next for you?
Tasha: No prob. Feel free to invent an interview
with me like anytime!
Tasha: What next for like me? Continuing my on going activism activities,
of course, duh!
Steve: What might that be?
Tasha: Duh! Like getting loitering made an
Olympic event, yay!
Well anyways. Me, Bull, Bear, and Moddz are off
for a week and a bit. I couldn't tell you what Tasha Tilberg is
doing. Though I could probably make something up.

'Details' Gets Naked in Desperate Attempt to
Boost Slumping Sales
FWD - Emma Hemming naked. Sales really down. "A woman
in a bikini has been used to sell everything from tires to stereos
successfully. That's not really the approach we want to take."
(They could of taken naked pictures of Emma.
Then put the head of Gisele on top. Then say it's Gisele! But seriously,
this trend is going to continue. I saw the events unfold years ago
that led to the explosion of Mens fashion magazines. Now I'm seeing
similar ones that are telling me things won't be improving anytime
soon. They could. Just it'll take a hell of a lot more than Puff Daddy
and Emma Hemming. If anything, that's more of an invation for the
decline to continue. But we'll see if the venture into nudity works
for Details first before judgement is passed. But before you say,
"Who cares about Emma". Just be glad it's not Kylie Bax
or Sophie Dahl, har har ;-) )

as I suspected. It's been having some server troubles too. It should
be back and running 100% soon.
+ Fake Gisele
GQ cover
GQ? - I didn't believe it when I first heard this.
You can't really tell from the website's cover. So ask a German
to double check this. I've been told it's for real, and saw a scan
of it, so... Looks like German GQ magazine, with its cover of Gisele
Bundchen added nipples to her bikini breast photo. If this is for
real, then all I can say is; GQ slummed really low. This changing
of photos for covers and ads, it's getting stupid. It's going to
push people away from magazines, if people no longer believe what
they're seeing.

Paper - Angela Lindvall talks about her Green beliefs,
Leftist political fashion mag she's starting up (well, it sounds
like it), and her want for a union
(I agree something has to be done
with models under 16. Though not something so backwards and unhelpful
as a union. You want to help the employees, not create a soapbox
for a greedy loud mouths. Oh well. It was the fashion industry that
created her. So it's them who get to deal with her. But if magazine
prices shoot up for us the consumers - you know US, we pay for ALL
of them's paychecks. Without us, they have to get a day job. - If
prices for magazines, clothes, perfumes, for you girls, go up. Thanks
to union demands and the ever unchecked and unbound rise in model
salaries. Not sure how interested I'd be in wanting to spend on
their stuff)

+ Carré
lets it all hang out
National Post - Carre Otis a sized 12 model now and
the cover of Mode
[I must admit. Plus-sized models
don't exactly get me excited. But with 50% of North Americans overweight.
If this is a body sized people want to get behind and see more of.
Who am I to express my objections. I certainly won't. If thin means
youth. In this day and age, perhaps late 30s and onwards means deciding
to fight to keep one's youthful appearance. Or saying, I'm 40, I
have a house, 2 cars, and pay more money in my yearly taxes than
an entire graduating class of Art History will makes in their lifetime.
I don't have the money to buy $200 jeans, or the want and money
(especially after working 9 hour+ a day at my work and taxes) to
diet. This fat I carry *is* my status symbol.
If that is what is going on here. But being of the generation expected
to pay for this particular generation's health bills in the next
10-15 years. I will take this opportunity to say: Don't make excuses.
Your over-weight! Watch what you eat, and how much you eat, and
exercise. And to those who are fighting your obesity (in a proper
way). I applaud you.
But it just goes to show. You don't
need Government setting up laws, and social regulations (ie. Commandments)
like in certain European countries. Citizens aren't stupid, and
if they want it, the the market will create it. Ah yes, the Free
Market System. It is wonderful. :-) ]

+ Gap
job cuts deeper than first announced
canoe - Gap so far has cut 10% of its workforce, but is that enough?
(Gap made a mistake with all those
stupid artsy dancy commercials they've been doing for the past few
years. First it was good, cause it was new. But new does become old
soon enough. So you have to reinvent yourself. This is the danger
in promoting your product towards teens around 14 to 16. In two years
time, they're 2 years older, and probably aren't into the things they
were 2 years ago. And the teens who were like 12 or 13, who are now
in their mid-teens. They've already seen this, so they're expecting
something more new. Something new for them specific, so they can pretend
to identify with. Repeating the same old things works great with kids
under 8. They can watch the same thing over and over and over, and
not get so bored with it so quickly. But it's a big gap from the point
of teen-hood and the point when retro becomes cool. Gap probably couldn't
even now use those original commercials, "Everyone in Khakis",
for retro now. They over did it! Compare this to Levi. This is just
me personally. But if they did a retro commercial with that big lizard
in the samurai outfit, who'd eat the red tab then say, "Mmm Levi!"
I'd think, "Oh cool. I remember that guy".)

Fernanda Vogel dies in helicopter crash
canoe - The body of Fernanda Vogel, missing since
a helicopter crashed in the sea last weekend, found. Her boyfriend,
Joao Paulo Diniz, and his co-pilot managed to swim to shore after
the helicopter went down. The pilot's body was found on Tuesday.
All four were not wearing a life vest.
(The story says Fernanda had survive
the crash, but a cramp prevented her from swimming to shore anymore,
so she stayed. I might not be a billionaire's son or a Olympic swimmer.
But how hard is it to hook one's legs around a person and backstroke
or tread water?)
