Happens: Fashion News and Gossip
Hintmag - October 24th, Angela Lindvall pregnant.
Depeche Mode and Jalouse USA magazines announce no next issues.
+ All-American
girl
Pagesix - The American President's, niece Lauren
Bush becomes the latest Tommy Girl, for Tommy Hilfiger
(No word yet if George's daughters have been
offered spots as Budweiser Girls? Whether Lauren Bush was the front
runner prior September 11th or not, I doubt will be asked, or cared.
Or will be people ask if Tommy is just using the image of a Bush
to boost sales. It's a big opportunity for her, and I'm sure she'll
do fine. I just hope she remembers she is a Bush and uses this opportunity
as a way to show support for her uncle.)
+ Injured
model Niki Taylor returns in fine form
Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Niki Taylor returns
to the public spotlight at the VH-1 awards.
+ Next
wave
Pagesix - It past years a country seem to become
the focus of fashion. Brazil, then Belgium, then quickly back to
Brazil. Elite is better on India, next.
(I doubt it! Maybe an Indo-model will have
success, I'm not arguing against that! I just don't see the type
of attraction places like Brazil had with India. They can try and
force it. Belguim tried at the same time as that Butch chic, and
pushed so hard that a retreat back to Brazil happened by Summer
time.
I realize countries like
Canada and England have a large Indo community with a thriving disposal
income being spent on Indo- community based businesses. Who wouldn't
want a piece of that pie!? I just can't see America caring in the
least about an India chic, and certainly there will be pockets of
people in cities that have a large East Indian population who'll
think fashion has abandon them.
I've seen this all happen
here where I lived 10 years ago. It's NOT going to happen over night.
I could sense the tension when I was in London in the clubs. Whites
stuck to one side of the club and Arabs, East Indians to another
, and boy, could I feel the tension in there (Japanese
tourists seem to be dancing all over the place. Lively bunch! Lots
of fun). I think it'd be better
to be stealthy in introducing an Indo-Asian fashion pressence, then
to force one on people. It's smart to try and open fashion up. It's
not smart to be arrogant and assume things. Take it slow, that's
my advice. Even trend-setter Madonna tried to introduce some Hindu
fashion ideas a few years ago. Where did it go?
It was mentioned as the latest
trend by every "follow the leader, sheep mentality" fashion
report. But it never caught on and it certainly didn't make the
communities the trend came from feel more welcome. Take it slow,
and in small doses at first, so people get used to it. So they'll
associate it with regular fashion and not the flavour of the moment.
This is a community that can really add ideas and that does have
disposable inome to spend. It also knows when it's being used, patronized
and parodied. I say if fashion wants a more universal look. Go with
Canada!)
+ Still
rocking
Pagesix - Angela Lindvall, May Anderson, Rhea Durham,
and Mark Ronson and Todd Oldham, go ice skating for a New York relief
fund
+ Sophie
Dahl to quit modeling and become an actress
UK Vogue - Sophie Dahl actually sees herself as an
actress?
(I hope she has a die-hard friend in the BBC
to give her roles. I wouldn't want to see her in any movie. I don't
even want to see her in fashion magazines. Maybe George Lucas will
be casting a part for the girlfriend of Jabba the Hutt in the Episode
3. If there's a need for a young Han Solo or a young Boba Fett.
George, we'll do lunch ;-) )
+ And
starring Paris Hilton as herself. Huh?
National Post - Two-second PR spot: Why Zoolander
marks the death of the celebrity cameo, thanks to Paris Hilton
(I have to agree. I don't know why the Hilton
sisters are viewed as if they're celebrities? They've done nothing
in their lives to warrent it. I mention them simply because I notice
people do web searches for them. So as long as their is a want for
them by my visitors. I guess I'll continue mentioning articles and
gossip pieces on them. But, if you all ever do get tired of them..
let me know!)

Wow! The girl who was posting on various message
boards (including this site's own), was correct! Stella Tennant
did win! I have to wonder if that Angela rumour was leaked to throw
people off. Remember, like I said: A rumor is a rumor, not a fact.
For those that didn't see. Yesterday a few hours after my last update,
I commented more on this. That and other comments have been moved
to the bottom of this page. So it is still here if you want to read
about that and Laetitia's new baby girl. I don't know why Stella
won, so please don't write in asking me why. She's the winner and
that's it till 2002.

+ Twin
towers symbolised arrogance, says top designer
Guardian Unlimited - Germany fashion designer, Wolfgang Joop, told
Austrian magazine Profil recently: There should be no regrets about
the destruction of the World Trade Centre! "I don't regret
that the twin towers are no longer standing because they symbolised
capitalist arrogance". Then compares German chancellor, Gerhard
Schröder behavior to the Nazis. ""But we Germans
are wary of those who run with the rest because we've had terrible
experiences with this. Such behaviour reminds me of the Nazi era."
(I can't stand Champaign socialists.
Multimillionaire hypocrites; they're rich, but really they're not
- they try to pretend. They "just happen" to have mansions
and large bank account, because they're "enlightened".
Arrogant jerks , who are as much enlightened as a blackhole shines
out light -- A blackhole doesn't shine out light. They suck it all
in. Want to know what else sucks, Wolfgang Joop. He hates capitalism?
It would be poetic justice if people would start spending their
hard earn money at any store except a Joop one. Let capitalism take
him out of being apart of it. In an industry that is capitalism!
I have to wonder how loud and arrogant he'd be collecting a welfare
check. Of course jerks like this guy would probably run around with
signs complaining not enough buildings have been knocked down. What
a jerk this guy is.
I hope the American magazines, like
Vogue, or any magazine with a concious, do a Giuliani and tell Joop
that their advertising dollars won't be needed anymore and hand
back the check!)

I was written by someone who was at the Stella
McCartney show that the runway show was awful, and the new Chloe
show was good. However I was mentioned that Stella's collection
in the showroom in Paris, was real good. As most showroom collections
tend to be. Since the showroom is more for the retailers, while
the catwalk is more for the media, fashionistas, and model watchers.
Maybe so. Maybe she did do some nice designs?
But you know what they say about first impressions. You only get
to make them once.
I guess we'll learn next Spring when her's,
and others who had a poorly reviewed show, collections begins to
appear in the magazines.
Maybe someone should remind the stylists
there's a place for artsy shows. It's called Haute Coulture. The
RTW shows should be entertaining, with something for everyone. Including
the seriousness for the retailers. If designers like Stella can't
put a little maturity into their shows. Why should people take her
designs seriously? And it doesn't help her much when you hear stories
alleging she may of ripped off another designer.

I've been looking at the shows. The Paris ones do look to be fun
shows. Nothing compared to past ones, but to get a little buzz out
of this season is better than none. To comment on the Paris collections
quickly. Colourful lot of them are. Valentino's stock holders should
feel good. Nice stuff. It's actually wearable clothing for women!
There were plenty of other good stuff too, don't think otherwise.
Of course, some collections look so lame that they make the clothing
people wear in those Star Trek shows look good. Gucci stock holders
should be glad there's Tom Ford. Cause Stella McCartney's collection
makes me wonder why she's a designer? She can have Ana BB wearing
a T-shirt that barely covers her breasts all she wants for a distraction.
It's still a crummy looking collection. Maybe Stella should buy
her next collection from JC Penny and "pretend" it's her
collection. Plenty of naked models will draw the attention elsewhere.

Menkes banned from all LVMH Paris shows
TradeWeave - LVMH bannes Suzy Menkes, the fashion editor
of
the International Herald Tribune, from all further LVMH shows during
the current Paris season, because of her bad review for Dior
(Gallino shows are usually fun looking ones.
But not always the most wearable. This show I wonder on. It won't
surprise me if it bombs! The bikinis look great. But I wonder if there's
a taste in North America and the UK for the Arabian looking stuff.
Also, in those countries; illegal immigration is becoming a huge issue
in the news. I wonder if his presentation style, with the whole multicultural
look. Clothing styles from one region with the models in facial paint
from others that the clothes don't match. I hate to wonder this, but,
are people in the mood for that? I think the US is going to like the
US looks right now, and Britain, also more western appearances. Cowboy
hats over turbans. Not saying that's a good thing. Just I think the
multicultural fashion looks were left behind after September 11th.
So Galliano better get with it. Or he'll look too 1990s. I realize
there are more places than the US and UK. Just, those two are important
ones.)

as being for a woman who likes "mental luxury," that is, something

Rumour has it, Angela Lindvall won the VH-1/Vogue Fashion awards
Tuesday
23rd October 2001
Update:
You know, I don't know why I mentioned a rumor off other non-Fashist!
message boards, that said Angela had won. Though I did point out
it was a Rumor only. There's someone saying now posting like
a madman on the Fashist!Forum that it's not Angela Lindvall. Then
I get a letter from someone who says it's Karolina Kurkova who won.
Let's just skip the net rumours
and find out tonight. Deal?
Well tonight is the VH-1 fashion awards. So we'll
find out if the rumor of Angela Lindvall are true. Remember everybody,
rumors mean roomers. They don't mean facts. Personally I think the
VH-1 fashion awards is a scam. The model winners are usually the
girl who probably should of won in previous years. So any model
who did in any given year, make a big impact in magazines, and runways.
They should be the nominated ones, and the winner from them. After
half a year of that silly Amazon/Lesbian chic thing stuffed down
our throats. I don't think any of the models who were identified
with it were even nominated? Hard to know who was even nominated,
since their own website
on it, doesn't even appear to care either. Only the video category's
nominees are listed. The show happened Friday and no press about
the winners. Not even on fashion sites (to my knowledge). Just shows
no one takes this award show seriously.
If you want to watch it. I'm sure VH-1 will thank
you. Me, I'd rather watch paint dry on a wall then watch it.
Laetitia Casta had a baby girl, named Sahteene.
