  • Michelle Ferrara: NY Models jumps to Ford
  • Julia Stegner on Steven Meisel
    from her models.com interview:

M: Still it’s a big leap from that to shooting for Vogue. Do you feel pressure
when you land a gig like that?
JS: It's pressure but it’s a pleasure to work with a great photographer like
Steven Meisel. I was nervous at first because I wanted to do everything
right but it's so easy to work with him because he is so nice. He knows
exactly what he wants. He tells you exactly what he’s looking for in the shot.

M: Tom Ford must have liked what you did for you to book the campaign.
JS: Tom Ford is amazing. He’s such a smart guy and so incredible to work with.
I’m not allowed to tell you what the concept of the campaign was like but it's
    going to be great!

(Smart move. Now China, if there isn't one. Both nations will be huge economies which fashion will have to move into. A French Economic Instituion recently predicted, China by 2050, would be the largest consumer economy, followed by the US, with the EU trailing far behind (even farther if it doesn't absorb 30 million more Muslims and North Africans, and also add Russia, and other European states, Turkey and North African states into the EU, by then)).

Monday 12th

Back from my trip to London. Always a nice time there.

Lots going on at Selfridge. The body is the big focus in London. Rankin was in town and his controversial views on digital photography editing. And he has a new book. Naked girls he fancied. Guy Bourdin gallery at V&A. McQueen threw a party. Tatu was in town, but had their concert canceled for lack of ticket sales. So instead the redhead one picked up some guy (there goes the gimmick).

Brits are getting sick of reality TV (they have shows on the dullest real life occupations. Talk about cheap TV). Red Ken bashed Bush. Tony is fighting his Chancellor over who is the real boss. Ian-Duncan won big in local elections.

Nobu London was disappointing (Milan's is way better). I missed my reservation at Spoon (Couldn't wait. Had to eat earlier). Impossible to get a reservation at The Ivy. Todd Shoes are easily the best fitting shoes I have ever gotten. Calvin Klein store on Bond, looks to be shutting down? I'm jumping to conclusions here. Just.. it's bottom floor was sealed off. Everything was on sale. Or maybe that's how it operates? The zoo has way too many birds!

I'll try to do my planned update for the end of April. I might have to pass on that. And trying to catch up on the stuff that went on in the first 3rd of May. Hopefully you've been reading the forums. Lots of reviews while I was gone. Xtina got fat. Fernanda went animal crazy. Suzy Parker died. Vogue fashion awards are no more (like it mattered). FV (of the Fashist!Forum) gained a groupie.

I'll try to get updates back up and going. Big apology to the web sites waiting to get announced. They will. Give me time please. Cendres (Models and Mags fame) has a new review site. I better hurry and get my reviews section back up (I know, I know..).

Here's a review of UK Vogue June 2003. I also mention a bit of some London stuff. I'll try to get in more details with the Rankin and Selfridge stuff, later.
