Thursday 31st
....

I might be able to get in an update today's afternoon? Bit busy this week, it seems. But here's some non-fashion stuff. It has to do with the big concert that just happened in Toronto. For Canada, this is about as fashionably world-class we'll get this year.

So why not jump on the band wagon, and talk about the "Rock-away SARS concert", aka, "SARSstock", aka, "PLEASE come to Canada and eat our beef!! concert".

"I'll tell you this is the biggest party in Toronto history," said Mick Jagger, "Toronto's back and it's booming!"

The Stones did surprise duets with AC/DC's Angus Young and Justin Timberlake. Timberlake was pelted with water bottles by the typical rock loving Canadian crowd, during his set earlier (in backstage interviews he accepted it gracefully realizing as the only pop act. He was doomed to start with the rock-bias crowd). AC/DC got a hero's welcome for their set.

Possibly as many as 450,000 concert goers. A huge success for organizers and a big thanks to all the performers (Justin, you can keep the water bottles too!). 11 hours, with 90 minutes of it being the the Stones.

The Stones were given keys to the city. Ron Wood's key had his name spelt wrong - Ron Woods. Oops..

Eat Alberta beef. Take a trip to Canada.

So you can't expect these papers to ever compliment the other's brand of journalism. I mentioned this article since I use the 3 mentioned newspapers allot for my article picks. I hope if Evening Standard is doing bad journalism, that it fixes the problem quickly. Since its Thisislondon fashion section is good, and I'd hate to see its reputation get damaged.)

Off Topic (movie review)
[Well an ex-model is in it, and US Vogue is more like Entertainment Weekly these days. So I think I can get away with going off-topic ;-) ]

Just saw T3. I was really hestitant to see it. I was worried it was going to be a bore. I loved the first two (especially the T2). Just I couldn't see how they could get anymore out of the franchise? Everything about it seemed to spell disaster:

No James Cameron, one of the few directors who can make a really good sequel. A girl Terminator, who I thought was going to be used for eye candy to cover up a bad plot. Arnold's last few movies have stunk. I'm not much of a fan of Claire Dane's and her crummy acting abilities. Worried its fight scenes would just be copies of previous Terminators or worst; it'd be like EVERY other action movie nowadays, with the whole Crouching Tiger/Hidden Matrix stuff. Which by now I'm sick of seeing.

A new actor for John Connors I knew beforehand was a smart choice. Last movie I saw Edward Furlong in was American History X. He did a good job in it (good movie too), but it looked like all his partying as a teen had stunted his growth. He doesn't look like a lead for a action movie anymore. So a new actor was a smart choice.

I happily surprised with T3!
It was really good. Good action. No Crouching/Hidden junk. Just good old fashion heavy metal being smashed around.. The story went in a new direction and it works! Arnold is in great shape for a 50 year old man. The T-X was interesting with her abilities (and still hot eye candy). The story was simple but it has to be. It works. For you eggheads who enjoy the Terminator series' dealing with the theories of time traveling. This one discusses not on the familiar theory of "We can change our future with our present actions", but it also brings up the other theory of, "The future is set in stone. You could travel back in time. Kill Stalin and Hitler. But still history would turn out the same".

Good movie. Just one warning: It doesn't have a Hollywood ending (thank goodness!). If you haven't seen it. See it!

Models in Movies
by Basilio (of Fashist!Online)

  • Charlize, a fashion photographer
Once upon a time Milano fashion week catwalker Charlize Theron stars and executive produces in John Duigan's "Head in the Clouds", a 20 million US$ drama set in the '30s Spanish civil war. Charlize plays Gilda Besse, a fashion photographer who's looking for her anti-nazi lover (Stuart Townsend) in the battlefields of Spain. Penelope Cruz is her assistant. The filming is over but they still have to find a distributor. Three pictures pop-up at the studio's official site, Theron also appears as Britt Ekland, one of Sellers' wives, in mini tv series "Life and Death of Peter Sellers", with Heidi Klum (see separate story).

  • Heidi's teeth
Supermodel Heidi Klum is trying her acting teeth again these days in both tv screen and silver screen. First, she appears in mini tv series "Life and Death of Peter Sellers", written by Lee Hall and Roger Lewis and directed by Stephen Hopkins. Heidi plays Ursula Andress, Bond girl and sex bomb back in the early '60s, one of Pink Panther's lovers. Sophie Dahl was originally casted for the role, due to her physical resemplance to Andress, but she withdrew because of her mother's relationship with Sellers. "Life and Death of Peter Sellers" will be on tv screens in 2004.

This will be Heidi's 3rd acting role, after small appearences in Mark Christoffer's "54" and Paddy Breathnach's "Blow Dry". Heidi also stars in Russell James' (debut) adventure "Nomad: The Two Worlds" with Estella Warren (see separate story). Both projects are currently under production.

  • Busy times for Estella
Four projects ahead for Canadian ex super model Estella Warren. She appears in Wayne Kramer's romance "The Cooler" (to be released Nov 21st) and stars in James Merendino's horror film "Trespassing" (completed, currently looking for distribution), in Russell James' adventure "Nomad: The Two Worlds" (currently under production) and in John Ketcham's thriller "I Accuse" (pre-production). However, none of above projects is a major studio production. See pictures and a trailer for "the Cooler" here.

  • Eva as the painter's wife
Supermodel Eva Herzigova is casted as Olga Koklova, Pablo Picasso's first wife, for Mick Davis' "Modigliani", starring Andy Garcia as Amendeo Modigliani. The 12 million US$ drama on the life of the boheme artist from Livorno is currently under production.

This is Eva's fifth acting role. See the original Olga Koklova here and decide for yourself on the resemblance: here.
