Carmen Kass the Politician!?

Model Carmen Kass Eyes European Parliament (Yahoo!)

"Carmen Kass has thrown her designer hat into the political ring in her home country of Estonia, declaring Friday she may run for European office.

Kass, 25, joined the ruling Res Publica party and said she is considering running in June elections for the European Parliament on the pro-business group's ticket.

"I'm entering politics because, for the past 10 years, I've gotten a lot from the world," the blond, blue-eyed multimillionaire told The Associated Press. "And everything I've gotten, I've gotten from Estonia. I want to give something back to Estonia." (more) "

[Never thought I'd wake up to read that? I hope her past with the driving thing won't come back to haunt her. Nice to see she's running for a Conservative party. I doubt her V-man pictures will hurt her - not in European politics, I doubt. Hopefully we will hear more about this in time to come. I might not have the time the past few months to keep up updating, but when politics and fashion collide (me being a political junkie too), I'll find the time!

And if you're curious about the Canadian Conservative leadership election, and whom am I voting for? It's between Belinda - Magna's former CEO and rumoured girlfriend of Bill Clinton; Tony Clemment - former Ontario Health Minister; Stephen Harper - former leader of the Alliance before it merged with the the Tories. Not Belinda; she might of bought the best handlers, but they're not playing to her strength, her experience with dealing with the US. Wow is she a poor public speaker. She needs to join Toast Masters, or something. Tony I'm liking, but one of his advisors is that Tom Long guy... you remember, during his leadership attempt a few years back, he had a internet membership contest. Fashist! and you won it for my dad, cause he entered it. But this Long jerk NEVER gave him his first place prize. -- The story of that is in the Archives. I forget which month and year, offhand? -- And Harper. He comes across so cool. Diehard capitalist, is there anything better? Nothing fazes him. The vote is in 3 weeks, I believe. For me and those who I know vote for who I vote for. It's between Tony and Harper, with Harper having the slight edge...]

Photographer Newton Dies

Newton, 83, died yesterday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. According to friends, the photographer had just driven away from the Chateau Marmont Hotel when he suffered a heart attack and crashed.

Articles (google)

I always enjoyed Newton. Heh.. I'm a guy, his work spoke to me ;-) I always liked his attitude with his work. Don't like how his death is getting reported. Its being made to sound like he died in a horrible car crash, when it sounds like it was just old age (83 years old), and he happened to be just behind the wheel of a car during his heart attack (hope no other cars were around when that happened?).

I remember an interview with him where he downplayed being a photographer, saying how all he did was push the button and how anyone could do what he did. Myself, as someone who who is lousy at taking a decent picture. I would disagree with that view, but I can appreciate the humble attitude he had with his profession.

In these days where photographers try to copy him but end up with something more suited for a XXX porn magazine; Helmut Newton was a class act and an original. RIP...

Entering its third weekend; the French film, YVES ST. LAURENT total North American take as of January 22nd was $55,463. It is being shown in only one theater in all of North American. In its 2nd week its take was up 25% from its first and placed 67 in movie profit rankings.

Where's been the updates?? They're coming back. There was an update not to long ago through the mailing list. I never had a chance to put it on the site (or update the page to a January 2004. Yet). As always, the forums with their up to date news and everything else is open for your viewing and participating pleasures. :-)
