I
always enjoyed Newton. Heh.. I'm a guy, his work spoke to me ;-)
I always liked his attitude with his work. Don't like how his death
is getting reported. Its being made to sound like he died in a horrible
car crash, when it sounds like it was just old age (83 years old),
and he happened to be just behind the wheel of a car during his
heart attack (hope no other cars were around when that happened?).
I
remember an interview with him where he downplayed being a photographer,
saying how all he did was push the button and how anyone could do
what he did. Myself, as someone who who is lousy at taking a decent
picture. I would disagree with that view, but I can appreciate the
humble attitude he had with his profession.
In these days where photographers try to copy him but end up with
something more suited for a XXX porn magazine; Helmut Newton was
a class act and an original. RIP...
Entering
its third weekend; the French film, YVES ST. LAURENT total North
American take as of January 22nd was $55,463. It is being shown
in only one theater in all of North American. In its 2nd week its
take was up 25% from its first and placed 67 in movie profit rankings.
Where's
been the updates?? They're coming back. There was an update not
to long ago through the mailing list. I never had a chance to put
it on the site (or update the page to a January 2004. Yet). As always,
the forums with their up to date news and everything else is open
for your viewing and participating pleasures. :-)
